The hybrid festival format is not new but it is particularly relevant to our current moment. At Caribbean Intransit, we’ve been experimenting with this format since 2013 at our first festival. We began the festival with workshops in the Bahamas at the National Art Gallery of the Bahamas and then moved to Trinidad hosting the rest of the program in partnership with departments at The University of the West Indies, the National Museum and a range of other partners. As a “roving civil society” organisation, our team members hailed from 13 countries across the Caribbean, the US and Europe. We hosted events in different countries partnering with team members in their locations: with @ Donna P. Hope in Jamaica, Sterlin Ulysse in Haiti, Keisha Oliver in the Bahamas are just a few examples. Imagining a multi-city festival was thus a way of connecting the dots. Now, we have the means to do just that via The Meeting Place Community web platform. 6 locations, one festival, The Meeting Place Festival! We will be streaming panels live via The Meeting Place Community web platform. Have you registered on the platform?
